How Long Should a Blog Post Be?

by Jenny on June 1, 2010

Let’s face it: the Internet is a fast and impatient place. If you are not interesting or captivating enough, people will move on and forget about you. Business blog writers face the difficult task of making web content that will draw high lead generation, and will result in higher profits for the company. There are four things that they should keep in mind, and it can take the form of a simple acronym: S.I.T.E.

A business blog should be:

• Short – No one wants to read a long-winded business blog. Keeping it succinct will let people get a brief idea and then follow your call to action.

• Informative – Even in a short blog, everything that the consumer needs to know about the product should be there. During the content creation, the writer should put the purpose, the price, and the benefits of the products that a customer can get through purchasing and using it.

• Technical – Business blogs should also have some technical aspects of the product mentioned, such as a short description of the internal process, or statistics relevant to the product. This informs the public that your product is relevant to their lives, not simply an ad they found online.

• Encompassing – In short, everything that a consumer needs to know about the product should all be there in the business blog. No need for long speeches, or page on page of testimonials. If you have a good product, it will speak for itself.

By keeping this simple acronym in mind, you can have a corporate weblog that will please both provider and buyer, and make the transaction easy and profitable on both sides!
