Driver-Solutions-LogoDerek is a Social Marketing Strategist with Driver Solutions, a business that provides company paid CDL opportunities to those looking to start a truck driving career.

1. When someone asks you what a blog is, what do you say?

A type of website or separate part of a website where individuals write articles or posts about several different topics on a personal or business level.   It’s generally updated frequently and provides more flexibility than as standard website.

2. Why did you guys decide to have a blog for Driver Solutions?

Main goal was to interact with those looking to start a trucking career to help them make best decision about their future.  Secondary goal was to improve search ranking for specific keywords we are targeting.

3. How did you discover Compendium Blogware?

We saw Chris Baggott speak at a conference, then found more information online.

4. How long have you had the blog with Compendium?

Right around 2 years.

5. Did you look into other blogging platforms before going with Compendium?

A little bit.  But we were already familiar with Compendium’s reputation.

6. What makes Compendium worth the money for you?

Compendium allows us to increase our exposure to those looking to get more information about a truck driving career.  We are also able to attribute leads and new business to our blogging efforts.

7. Why did you choose to put your marketing money into a blog and not into direct mailing or something else, for example?

Compendium provides more long term benefits.  Most of our customers are already searching for us online, so it makes sense to be in front of them in an online environment.  Our blog also allows us to integrate all of our marketing efforts (video, social media, etc.) within one “home base.”

8. What sort of success have you seen with your Compendium blog?

We’ve seen a great response to some interactive campaigns we have done.  We’ve seen an increase in views on our videos.  We also receive several applications each month directly from our blogging efforts.

10. How many folks in your company write for your blog? Do they find it an easy or a daunting task?

I wouldn’t say daunting.  Just something that isn’t always a top priority with other things going on.  We’ve benefited a lot from having one person dedicated to keeping up with the blog.
