Make The Most of Your Facebook Posts

by Jenny on September 5, 2011

Ah, Facebook.  Sometimes it can be mind boggling to keep up with it.  That’s one of the reasons we as Business Blog Writers like Compendium so much – because they keep up with the social media stuff, so you don’t have to.

But, let’s say you’re a business to consumer company and would like to promote a sweepstakes, a giveaway or a promotion once a week without re-posting a blog post every time.  There is a simple way to do this, so that you post a photo as well.

Here are your options:

Choose the "Photo" option in Facebook:

How to Post a Photo On Your Facebook Wall

When you go to your wall,  you’ll notice that there’s an option to post your "Status", "Photo", "Link", "Video" or a "Question".  Choose "Photo" and then choose "Upload a Photo", which will allow you to browse through your computer’s photo files

Facebook Upload a Photo
Once you have located the photo that you want to use, then you choose it and can start typing your message, as I did here:

Facebook Upload a Photo and tag
I want to tag "Blazerfarmz" in this.  So if I start typing, "@bla" then you can see that all the companies I have liked that have "bla" in their Facebook name, are showing up for me to choose from.

So, I select "Blazerfarmz" by clicking on it.

By tagging "Blazerfarmz" then my post also shows up on their page, which gives me double exposure and also eliminates the need for me to post again on their page:

Just Copy and Paste the URL:

Take the URL from the website that you’re interested in posting from.

When you paste a URL – if you copy and paste it and then hit the spacebar and wait 2-3 seconds, then the first photo from that post will show up.

Facebook copy and paste URL link
Once the photo and the link appear, then all you need to do is hit the blue "Share" button and it’ll appear on their page.  And if you linked their Facebook page by using the "@" symbol, then it will also appear on their page.

Choose the "Link" option in Facebook:

Posting a Link on Facebook
Once you choose the "Link" option, then a box appears where you will copy and paste the HTML:

Facebook paste link
Once you hit the "Attach" button, then it’ll let you write your own message, also allowing you to tag anyone or any company or any blog’s Facebook that you want, as I did below:

Facebook paste link and write
You then select the company, like "Blazerfarmz" and then click on the blue "Share" button to have it appear on your wall.

Facebook paste link and write blazerfarmz
The nice thing about using Facebook’s link option is that there’s no long URL that appears as it did when I just copied and pasted the URL directly in the status box:

Posting URLs on Facebook
So in the end, it’s really up to you as to how you want to do it.  Please don’t hesitate to leave a comment if something is confusing about this post.
