The Importance Of Longer Keyword Phrases

As the general knowledge of keyword usage becomes more common place, your blogging strategy has to become more creative.

One to two word keywords have long been popular for companies and individuals alike to win in the search engine optimization game.  However, in most categories the one to two word keywords end up being harder to win, especially with spammers out there trying to claim them.

Another trend is that Internet searchers that use longer keyword phrases to find their product or service are already very specific on what they’re looking for.  For example, someone that enters in “reservations online” compared to the searcher that enters “reservation online software” or “buy reservation online software” is actually looking to buy that software.  So if you are a company that is trying to sell that sort of software, then you want to grab that traffic.

So, how do you find the longer keywords that are applicable to your business?  There are various tools out there, like the Google Keyword Tool or the WordTracker Tool that will help you find keyword phrases that are applicable to your business or product.  Of course, Google’s tool is free and the WordTracker Tool will cost you some money.  However, as we all know, you get what you pay for.
