Why Search Engines Love Blog Pages

by Jenny on December 7, 2010

Search engines love blogs because of the architecture of a blog page.

They are fresh and kept updates – typically a blog has new content and then old content underneath it.

Search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and the like want to find a web page that’s frequently updated – and a blog page is a webpage to Google – in fact, it’s just the human visitor that sees it as a blog per say.

Search engines also want to find pages that have a lot of authority.  So, for example, if you are a company that sells a lot of different products on your site – you might need to change the content on a certain page because it’s time to update the product description.  When you update that product description, you end up eliminating what Google had previously indexed.  With a blog, this doesn’t happen – since the old content gets indexed and then is therefore there forever.

So with a blogging system, your website authority continues to grow.  Search engines likes frequency and more so when your content creation is recent – that’s why Google loves blogs.
